| Forwarding Emails: How are open rates tracked if I forward manually? |
|
So here's the scenario: you send out to your list and
don't have a coded Social Share feature inside the application. If that
email is forwarded manually, is the email open tracked inside the
application and if so, who gets credit for the open? The answer is yes, the open is tracked. As long as the tracking pixel inside the original email isn't manipulated or changed in any way, that open will register. The open will be credited toward the person on the list that sent the forward as the system will not read the new recipient's email address. Example: joe@joe.com manually forwards an email to betty@betty.com. When Betty - not on the list - opens the email, joe@joe.com will get another open assigned with his contact.
